Baghdad, Iraq  "Operation Iraqi  Freedom"

Many of you know me from Las Vegas.  As a reservist, I was called and I came. These are just a few shots, each with a story. As the Personnel Recovery Director for the Iraqi Theater of Operations, I was there to see the Surge work.  I saw it daily as the Iraqi Military began to step up more and more, as well as the Iraqi people, who I witnessed taking back their streets from the terrorists.  My time was cut short when I was hit, but I made it back.

The real story to me lies in the future.  On the LAST ROW you will see the children of Iraq. A good friend of mine from Las Vegas, "LIZ" sent me a large box.  Amidst this box were 50 roles of Polaroid film and 3 Polaroid cameras. She told me she wasn't sure why she was sending them; "Something spoke to her."

I wasn't sure what to do with them. Then I talked to the Chaplain and he looked at me in awe.  He said he had been praying for them, and that the children had never had photos they could hold or touch. You can see the looks on their faces!

I've seen a lot of things here, but what I'll take with me is hope - hope for the future.

Pray for our brave men and women in and out of uniform. Their courage and dedication keeps us safe and extends freedom and peace. I am grateful and proud to serve with them and for their service to our country, and for the support and sacrifice of their families.
